Matelasse bedspreads are woven in Lewiston, Maine, USA, by Maine Heritage Weavers a company formed by former Bates Fabric employees that wanted to insure these vintage bedspreads would continue to be produced in the United States. 

The Bates Mill Store began in the 1950's as an outlet for Bates Fabrics and continues to sell these popular woven bedspreads direct from the factory.
