Candlewick Martha's Choice bedspreads are some times referred to as chenille bedspreads.

Candlewick bedspreads and coverlets were named so because the length of the tuft (or [tag]terry loop[/tag]) on the bedspread was as long as a candle's wick.  [tag]Martha's Choice[/tag] and American Tradition, woven by Maine Heritage Weavers, are examples of candlewicks, also known as terry loop. Martha's Choice is available in antique, white, blue/white or sage/white. American Tradition, which is lighter in weight than Martha's Choice is available in white or antique. Both have luxurious string fringe.

Maine Heritage Weavers has continued the tradition of weaving quality bedspreads, which Benjamin Bates began in 1850.  They are located in Lewiston, Maine, in one of the Bates Mills buildings.
