Produced at Maine Heritage Weavers, which began by Bates Fabrics employees over 7 years ago, coverlets, throws and bedspreads are woven on similar looms as Bates. Both candlewicks and matelasses are woven and are available in many colors, both solids and two-tones.
Heritage is one of the oldest designs in the vintage matelasse collection. Formerly named Heirloom, Heirtiage is a repeat pattern of a circular and leaf design and is in the “loomed to be heirloomed” collection.
In addition to bedspreads, which are finished with a knotted or scallop string fringe, coverlets with pom-pom fringe and matching pillow shams and throws are offered. Custom size your bedspread

On the contrary, we here at the Bates Mill Store still make our bedspreads the same way our ancesters did decades ago! So to accomodate the newly designed matresses we offer custom sized bedspreads to fit your new bed. For an additional $30 we are able to customize your bedspread up to a 30″ drop on most patterns (our standard is 21″) so you can have a perfect fitting, beautiful spread. We can also accomodate to post beds, as we offer split corners as well to prevent bunching around the bottom. Call us for more information!

Most of them worked for the legendary Bates Fabrics before the textile giant closed its doors. Many of them are third or fourth generation (even 5th generation!) textile mill workers, taught from their parents and grandparents their skilled craft.
