Luxury Trapunto Woven Bedspreads

The employees at Maine Heritage Weavers know how to weave luxury woven trapunto bedspreads. Most of them worked for the legendary Bates Fabrics before the textile giant closed its doors. Many of them are third or fourth generation (even 5th generation!) textile mill workers, taught from their parents and grandparents their skilled craft.

Heritage (Heirloom), Queen Elizabeth and Martha Washington’s Choice are three of the designs woven by Maine Heritage Weavers. Martha Washington’s Choice is a candlewick (also referred to as a chenille or terry loop) and Queen Elizabeth, Heritage and Abigail Adams are examples of matelasse or “trapunto” designs.

Besides luxury cotton coverlets, Maine Heritage Weavers manufactures blankets, bedspreads and throws their textile mill in Lewiston, Maine. Both matelasse and candlewick designs are machine washable and will not fade nor shrink more than 3 percent.
