Popular vintage designs including American Tradition, Spirit of America, John Adams and Martha Washington’s Choice are woven by Maine Heritage Weavers and are prime examples of chenilles also known as terry loop, candlewicks or hobnails. Candlewick bedspreads were named so because the length of the tuft (or terry loop) on the bedspread was as long as a candle’s wick.
