Woven Candlewick USA Bedspreads

Candlewick woven USA bedspreads are some times referred to as chenille bedspreads.

Candlewick bedspreads were named so because the length of the tuft (or terry loop) on the bedspread was as long as a candle's wick.  American Tradition and Martha's Choice woven by Maine Heritage Weavers are examples of candlewicks, also known as terry loop. Martha's Choice is available in antique, white, blue/white, charcoal/white or sage/white and is available in bedspread sizes, coverlet sizes, throws and shams.  American Tradition is a lighter weight terry, available in bedspread sizes in white or antique.

Maine Heritage Weavers has continued the tradition of weaving the highest quality USA woven bedspreads, continuing the tradition begun in 1850 by Benjamin Bates.  They are located in Lewiston, Maine, in one of the former Bates Mills buildings.  They weave on Jacquard and dobby looms, the same as the legendary Bates Fabrics.
